Football and Wellbeing
I’m Henry and I am one of the University Anglican Chaplaincy Assistants based at St James in the City church. I am about to go into my 3rd year at LJMU studying Applied Sport Psychology. I have found this to be the perfect degree for me as I love people and I really love sport
My number 1 sport is football! Anyone that knows me will tell you that I absolutely live and breathe it. It provides me with respite from the things going on in my life and allows me to focus on something different. My second year was one of the most challenging years of my life, yet it always seemed to be that football (playing it or watching it) provided a consistent distraction from the chaos that was unfolding around me. I highly encourage all of you to invest time in your hobbies and your passions as they can be a source of joy and tranquillity.
As I move forward into this year, I want to be able to provide a safe space for male students and young professionals in the city of Liverpool to play football and build a community that supports each other throughout the highs and lows of life.
Play as part of a Church community….
At St James in the City, we are launching a new-look weekly football session on Thursday 1st October for young adult males to come and play football. We want to support you through your university experience in any way we can. So, if you love football, want to meet some likeminded students, and you fancy a kickaround every Thursday night, get in touch with me and we can give you the full details! Bring your friends! Bring your flatmates! We’d love to see as many of you as possible!
